AEW Dynamite made its debut in October 2019 and since then has worked hard to provide an alternate product to what fans see in WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

The company did not have the best of starts and many fans were worried about its success. However, the company truly persevered, especially during the pandemic era last year and kept on producing shows.

Before their debut, the company struck a television deal with WarnerMedia. Back in January of last year, the company reached an extension through 2023 with a fourth-year option for 2024 that would give AEW a significant increase in pay.

While speaking with the Associated Press, Tony Khan stated that AEW has already turned a profit with its TNT deal and added that AEW’s high level of performance will justify a pay increase with their next deal.

“Our TNT deal is very fair. I think we’ve performed at such a high level that we’ll justify a big increase on our next deal. We are very fortunate to have their support. The timing of that deal was great, to get that in January 2020, that is a huge revenue stream for us.”

Tony Khan also stated that he believes AEW got WWE’s attention thanks to all the significant changes they made over the past couple of months. It remains to be seen how much AEW will grow in the coming months as well.
