Gran Metalik is considered one of the best luchadors around, but WWE hasn’t given him the biggest spotlight. Now it appears that he wants to take his talents elsewhere.
According to lucha libre program Más Lucha, Gran Metalik requested his release from WWE after Andrade did the same. It was not noted whether or not that request was granted.
The reasons Metalik gave for his release dealt with frustration over his booking in WWE. It was also noted that Metalik’s contract expires in 2023, so he wants out far eariler than planned.
The Lucha House Party saw glimmers of getting booked in a larger way, but it never materialized for them. Kalisto was previously released from the company, so if WWE allows Gran Metalik to go elsewhere then that will leave Lince Dorado as the last remaining member of the party.
It is unknown where Gran Metalik would go from there if WWE allowed him to leave. It’s hard to imagine that WWE will keep him around, especially considering their tendency to cut the bottom line.
