AEW Dynamite beat WWE RAW in the coveted ratings demographic for two straight weeks. Big E’s title win fell in between that time, and Renee Paquette believes that Vince McMahon’s company made that call because of AEW’s competition.

While talking to Busted Open Radio, Renee Paquette opened up a bit about WWE’s booking. She expressed the belief that Big E’s title win was actually due to AEW’s increased momentum and how they are catching up to WWE’s foothold in the industry.

“So yeah, I do think that there was more of a business side behind making that moment, especially doing it on Monday Night RAW. Who knows where Big E is going to continue to kind of show up? But yeah, I definitely think that was a bit of, I don’t want to say a knee jerk reaction, but as you see AEW nipping at the heels of WWE, they got to start making some bigger moves. And they’ve got to start making fans happy. So you give them Big E, that’s going to make people happy.”

Big E’s title win was reportedly slated for the WWE Draft, but they moved that up. This is an interesting situation and we will have to see how things go in the next few weeks.

It is also important to remember that Mondays are a very difficult time for WWE right now with the return of Monday Night Football. Vince McMahon’s company has to book against far more than just AEW at this juncture. They also have to make sure that they consider far more than only what Tony Khan’s company is doing.
