Tommy Dreamer had a lot to say during Dark Side of the Ring’s return with the Plane Ride From Hell episode. He seemed to excuse what Ric Flair did on that plane, and a lot of controversy erupted from that. Impact Wrestling staff was informed that the Innovator of Violence will not be at this weekend’s television tapings, but there is more to that story.
Despite it being previously reported that Dreamer’s position in the company will not change due to his comments on Dark Side of the Ring, Dreamer has been suspended.
According to a report from PW Insider, Tommy Dreamer was “suspended indefinitely going forward” This was in an email that Impact Wrestling President Ed Nordholm released.
In the email, Nordholm stated that the company was made aware of comments Dreamer made on last night’s Dark Side of the Ring and they were “out of line with our core values” as a company. In the episode, Dreamer commented on allegations made about Ric Flair on the infamous “plane ride from hell” twenty years ago.
Nordholm said Dreamer was “asked to leave effective immediately” from Nashville, and he is now suspended. No time table was given about how long this suspension will last.
Nordholm also stated that if anyone has questions on the matter then they can contact Gail Kim, Scott D’Amore or himself. It seems that the biggest trouble coming out of that controversial episode on Vice dealt with Tommy Dreamer.
