Cody Rhodes Makes Surprise Return On AEW Dynamite

Cody Rhodes was talking about retirement prior to getting knocked out by Malakai Black. The American Nightmare filmed the Go Big Show, and then a rematch with Black was booked for AEW Grand Slam. The two were already set to battle at Arthur Ashe Stadium, but Rhodes made a surprise return a week early.

Malakai Black cut a promo in the ring during Dynamite, and then he pointed out Rosario Dawson at ringside wearing a Cody Rhodes hoodie.

Dawson jumped the barricade, and security had no issue with this. Just as Black was about to get close to her, Cody Rhodes leaped over the barricade on the other side and he brawled with Malakai Black through the crowd.

This was an unexpected return for Cody Rhodes. We will have to see if he can defeat Malakai Black next week when it really matters.
