Big E won the WWE Title on RAW this week, and that decision was met with a lot of happiness. His huge win was also met with a morale boost backstage, but it all came together in rapid fashion.
Ringside News exclusively reported when WWE made the call about Big E’s Money in the Bank cash-in. The decision was made to move the WWE Title match “shortly after RAW,” and the call was made for his cash-in at SmackDown in Madison Square Garden.
While speaking to WWE The Bump, Big E confirmed how quickly things came together for his title win. This was not something that they had planned out for a long time at all.
“When I started this loop, my intention was that I was supposed to be home Monday morning after the live event Sunday and I realized I was going to Raw last minute. That was a bit of a last-minute decision. There was also the option of maybe I go out there and do some teasing and come back later when it’s time to actually cash in or go back to SmackDown and cash in there.”
“I wasn’t really sure. It was an afternoon, that day decision and it all happened very, very quickly. For me, it was definitely not something that was set in stone days and days ahead.”
Big E’s WWE Title win didn’t pop a huge viewership number, but they also had stiff Monday Night Football competition. We also previously reported that WWE Superstars are not permitted to know about their own creative plans unless they are given permission to learn that information.
