Ruby Soho arrived in AEW during the Women’s Casino Battle Royale at All Out. She won that match and secured a #1 contender spot which is very exciting. Ringside News exclusively reported that Soho would debut during that match, and the pro wrestling world loved seeing it happen.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that Lars Frederiksen of the band Rancid, who is a big pro wrestling fan, reached out to Ruby Soho and suggested that she use the band’s song in AEW.
“The Ruby Soho music was actually, and she talked about it, but Lars Frederiksen of the band Rancid, he’s a big wrestling fan and I had met him at the Cow Palace and a couple other times, too. He went to her and made the suggestion of changing her name to Ruby Soho and using that as her song and she was thrilled to death, so there’s no problem with those rights.”
The fans at All Out popped in a huge way even before “Ruby Soho” was shown on the big screen. They knew that song, because many had it in their brains, expecting to hear it blasting out at All Out. That is exactly what happened, and Rancid has zero issues letting Tony Khan’s company use their track.
On the other hand, Europe’s asking price to use The Final Countdown for Bryan Danielson was out of Tony Khan’s ballpark. We have to wonder how large of a number Europe wanted that Khan wouldn’t shell out for Bryan.
