CM Punk made his All Elite Wrestling debut on last month’s AEW Rampage: The First Dance, a move that created a lot of buzz for the company. Tony Schiavone considered it the greatest debut in pro wrestling history.

CM Punk has a deep love for professional wrestling and many legendary pro wrestlers who came before him. That especially includes WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart, for whom Punk has a lot of respect.

CM Punk chose Darby Allin as his first opponent as the two clashed at AEW All Out. It was Punk’s first match since 2014 and many wondered how he’d perform. Thankfully, CM Punk performed as well as fans expected and it even included a huge tribute to Bret Hart as well.

During the early stages of the match, Darby Allin performed a takedown on CM Punk. The surprise Punk shows on his face as Darby takes him down was a homage to Bret Hart doing the same during the instant classic match against X-Pac, who was known as the 1-2-3 Kid in 1994.

CM Punk vs Darby Allin was truly a classic example of a veteran vs young star matchup and it couldn’t have gone down better considering the circumstances. Punk will forever love professional wrestling and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
