CM Punk Says He Doesn’t ‘Get’ Orange Cassidy

CM Punk’s AEW debut last month at AEW Rampage: The First Dance is now etched in the memory of pro wrestling fans all over the world. CM Punk already smashed T-shirt sales records with his first batch of t-shirts.

Punk himself absolutely loved his AEW debut and it was said that AEW had no idea what Punk was going to say in his promo during his debut on AEW Rampage.

CM Punk also made it clear that he wants to compete against the young talent in the company and elevate them to the next level. It seems fans have drawn similarities between himself and another top AEW star.

While speaking on Oral Sessions with Renée Paquette, CM Punk talked about his time in WWE and his current AEW run. CM Punk then revealed how he and Orange Cassidy shares similarities.

“I think, too often, there’s, ‘I don’t get it, get it off TV’ and I’m like, I don’t get it. I’ve used Orange Cassidy, who I think, at dinner the other night, ate my sea bass. So, there’s real heat there. But that’s a thing I look at, and I go, ‘I don’t get it,’ but I listen to the people. And they react to him, and they like him. So, I’m like, f%%k yeah! Why would we throw that in the garbage? And it just reminds me of when I showed up there, and those same people were like, ‘I don’t get it.’ And I’ll be like, ‘Well, you’re 65, and you’re racist. So, I guess I’m super stoked that I’m not for you, and you don’t get it. It’s not for me to get. It’s for the audience to get, you know?”

Orange Cassidy remains one of the most over talents in AEW who became a fan-favorite organically. We wonder if CM Punk and Orange Cassidy will eventually clash inside the squared circle.
