CM Punk’s first match after a long hiatus from pro wrestling is against Darby Allin at All Out. Even before Punk arrived in AEW, people compared Allin to the Second City Savior. The former TNT Champion doesn’t seem to mind or care about those comparisons.

During the AEW Fan Fest’s panel, Darby Allin was asked about being this generation’s CM Punk. He made it very clear that he doesn’t want to be CM Punk, because he wants to be himself.

Absolutely, but to be honest I don’t wanna be this generation’s CM Punk. I wanna be Darby Allin. I don’t really care and I draw a lot of inspiration from CM Punk and I know CM Punk said that when he was younger I would have been his favorite wrestler, but when I was 15 years old Punk was my favorite wrestler. Burning bridges, he doesn’t care what people think. I don’t like ass-kissers so someone like him I really looked up to, but it doesn’t mean I wanna be him.”

CM Punk will battle Darby Allin in the Second City’s Savior’s first match in seven years. The world will be watching Darby Allin and CM Punk do their thing in Chicago. The big question is how everyone will remember that match when everything is said and done.
