Adam Cole was touted as one of the best talents in NXT after debuting back in 2017. He competed in some of the brand’s best matches and his importance to NXT cannot be undermined.
Adam Cole is also officially done with NXT for good after NXT TakeOver 36, where he lost to Kyle O’Reilly, finally ending their feud. Adam Cole’s WWE contract also expired recently, making him a free agent.
Adam Cole also doesn’t have a non-compete clause because he didn’t sign a new contract with WWE. Cole is free to go wherever he wants to.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE told their marketing team not to get rid of plans for Adam Cole.
As noted from people involved in marketing projects, they have not been told to get rid of plans for Cole, although they usually don’t find out before the company goes public with things like that either and are blindsided by releases of key people
It is also to be noted that AEW teased a free agent signing along with Britt Baker recently, which an obvious nod to Adam Cole.
Booker T recently stated that AEW needs someone like Adam Cole. It remains to be seen what Adam Cole what is next in store for the former Undisputed Era member.
