WWE released several talents from their contracts in recent memory, which began with the likes of Mickie James and Chelsea Green being released back in April. Last month, Bray Wyatt was released which shocked the pro wrestling world.
The company released even more NXT Superstars in their latest batch of releases, including the likes of Bronson Reed and Bobby Fish. In total, WWE has released 52 Superstars so far this year. More cuts could be on the way as WWE continues their efforts to trim the bottom line.
It seems the company isn’t done releasing more NXT Superstars. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that he has heard more names are on the “chopping block” to be released, more specifically those NXT Superstars who were part of the brand for a long time.
“I’ve certainly heard names on the chopping block. You don’t know until it happens, but I’ve definitely heard names. A lot of the guys who’ve been there for a long time are kind of… those are the names that have been talked about.”
With NXT fully undergoing a revamp with Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard at the helm, the future of NXT seems very bleak according to many fans.
