CM Punk’s AEW debut last week at AEW Rampage: The First Dance was touted as the biggest moment in the company’s history and many felt the same. CM Punk already smashed T-shirt sales records with his first batch of t-shirts.

Punk’s debut became one of the most talked-about moments in recent memory and elevated AEW to the next level. This certainly pleased Mick Foley among other people.

Punk himself absolutely loved his AEW debut and it was said that AEW had no idea what Punk was going to say in his promo during his debut on AEW Rampage.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, CM Punk took the opportunity to hit back at fans who criticize Tony Khan for being a ‘mark’. Punk explained that it’s much better to be a fan and direct a show than the opposite.

“I see a lot of criticism and I’m like if the number one criticism is, ‘oh, this guy is a fan, he is a mark’… well sh*t, aren’t we all? You know what I mean? I’d rather have a guy who’s a fan of it, sitting with a headset on and directing a show rather than somebody who doesn’t like…there’s good and there’s bad and the good far outweighs the bad.”

CM Punk is set to make his in-ring debut in AEW as he will be facing off against Darby Allin at AEW All Out on September 5th. We will have to wait and see how CM Punk will fare in the match.
