Brock Lesnar was absent from WWE television after dropping the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36. That changed at WWE SummerSlam, where he made his shocking return to WWE television and confronted Roman Reigns. He officially came back as a babyface, much to the delight of fans.

Just one day before Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE television, CM Punk took the pro wrestling world by storm after making his debut on AEW Rampage: The First Dance. It still remains one of the best moments in the company’s history.

While speaking on The Wrestling Inc. Daily, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was asked if he thought WWE brought back Brock Lesnar to counteract CM Punk’s AEW debut. Angle stated that Brock’s return did take away some of the buzz from CM Punk’s debut.

“Anytime you bring in Brock Lesnar, it’s a huge deal So, yes, it definitely took away some of the buzz that was created when CM Punk and possibly Daniel Bryan joined AEW. But those two are big names, too. I think WWE did enough damage control by bringing Lesnar in, that I don’t think it [Punk joining AEW] will affect them much. But, they did lose Bryan and Punk, who I’m guessing was never going back to WWE, so that didn’t really matter.”

CM Punk consistently appeared on AEW Dynamite and Rampage after his debut but Brock Lesnar remains absent since his return. We will have to wait and see when Lesnar will come back to WWE television again.
