CM Punk made his AEW debut on Rampage: The First Dance. Backstage footage from Being the Elite shows CM Punk initially nervous before making his way out in front of the Chicago crowd. Punk has shown to be nervous to go out there, but one wrestler appeared to calm his nerves to prepare him.
Thunder Rosa is one of the biggest names in AEW’s women’s division. Rosa was backstage for CM Punk’s AEW debut and according to Punk himself, made the moment feel real to him.
CM Punk revealed on the Angi Taylor Show that he believed himself to be a nervous wreck in anticipation of his debut backstage. Punk said that following his nervous pacing, it was Thunder Rosa who said something to calm his nerves and make the magnitude of the situation feel real to him.
“I’m going to call out Thunder Rosa. I was a nervous wreck the whole time and I’m pacing the hallways. I can’t sit still, I can’t watch a monitor, can’t talk to people. I’m running around and then I’m waiting to go out, waiting for my music to hit and she just looks at me and goes, ‘Hey, welcome back’ and I almost just burst into tears. I was just like, ‘you son-of-a-bitch,’ I just want to punch you right in the chest. She got me pretty good with that one. I don’t think that was her intention, but man, she got me.”
Punk also went on to say on the show that fans will not want to miss AEW’s upcoming All Out PPV. Punk is set to make his in ring return in a match with Darby Allin.
While CM Punk has stated that there are many AEW wrestlers he wants to help. Thunder Rosa is one AEW wrestler who has helped CM Punk in his return to the world of wrestling.
