Goldberg is a seasoned performer and he learned the ropes in front of millions. His son Gage might be in the same situation, but the 15-year-old has a father who will make sure he does things correctly. Gage was involved in an altercation with Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam, and Goldberg made sure his son sold those injuries.
While speaking to CarCast, Goldberg admitted thathe was a bit rough on his son in the ring at Allegiant Stadium. He noticed that Gage was smiling a bit after the All Mighty got ahold of him, and that wasn’t something the former Universal Champion would stand for.
“I didn’t see sh*t. I was choking him. He goes, ‘Dad, when you came over and grabbed me, you were choking me.’ I was like, ‘I saw you smiling man, I had to get the smile off.’ The kid is impervious to pressure. He did four hours of homework before he went out and jumped in the ring with a 290-pound monster who was beating his dad up. It didn’t bother him one bit. Wanda [Goldberg’s wife] was in the back. If she was anywhere near the ring… she would have had to jump in too.”
We’ll have to see if Gage Goldberg follows in his father’s footsteps, but he obviously learned a hard lesson at SummerSlam. It’s okay to enjoy yourself in the ring, but the trick is that you should never break character, no matter how special the moment is.
