The Brood was regarded as one of the top stables during the Attitude Era as it made stars out of Edge and Christian, with Gangrel being the heart of the stable. All three performers have gone their own paths, with Gangrel doing a variety of different projects.
At WWE SummerSlam, Edge brought back his Brood entrance and it was definitely one of the highlights of the entire pay-per-view, as it was the perfect hit of nostalgia for fans.
Gangrel previously revealed that he was supposed to appear on an episode of AEW Dynamite and perform the Brood entrance. However, due to Edge’s SummerSlam entrance, plans were cancelled.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, despite Gangrel not being able to appear on AEW Dynamite, he was paid for it as if he was on the show.
David Heath (Gangrel) on his podcast said that he was supposed to be on the show, likely doing an angle involving Christian and Omega, but then was canceled because the idea was similar to the bloodbath idea that WWE had just done on Smackdown. AEW confirmed his story and noted he was canceled after Smackdown but that he was also paid as if he was on the show.
It is certainly great to see that AEW decided to pay Gangrel what he was supposed to get, even if fans never got to see him again in the company.
