WWE scheduled some big returns for SummerSlam. As Ringside News exclusively reported, the plan to bring in Becky Lynch was a change after Sasha Banks couldn’t work the event. Brock Lesnar’s return was planned ahead of time, but those arrangements are always kept in total secret regarding Lesnar. The networks have noticed and USA Network might feel a bit left out.
During the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, Andrew Zarian said that USA Network isn’t too thrilled about how WWE has treated their rosters in recent memory. He said that it’s a bit of an issue that SmackDown has so much more talent.
“There’s a little bit of an issue with NBC and the USA guys and the fact that this SmackDown roster is really stacked now.”
The networks know WWE superstars and the name value they bring to the table. This is why they were a bit shocked when Bray Wyatt was released.
It is also apparent that there seems to be a shift to add even more weight to the SmackDown side after Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch both returned and staked their claim on the blue brand. We’ll have to see if RAW can get some bigger names after the draft in October.
