Eva Marie made her return to WWE earlier this year. Eva Marie was brought to WWE in 2013 largely to be a cast member of the new Total Divas reality show. Eva Marie appears grateful to WWE for the opportunity Total Divas gave her.

Eva Marie revealed in the first season of the show that she had previous struggles with addiction and alcoholism. Eva Marie made this public on the show so she was the one telling her story.

Eva Marie made an appearance on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast to discuss her past issues. Eva Marie credited the Total Divas show for highlighting the real issues the cast members faced in their lives.

“I didn’t want anybody to take that power away from me, so I felt it was really important for me to have that narrative put out into the public first. That way I took the power away from anybody else. I told my story first on Season 1 of Total Divas. I think that’s where I’m grateful to the show, to showcase those types of real issues. I think that’s also another thing where social media is one of those things where you pick and choose how much you want to share what you do or what you don’t want to, and hopefully navigate those squiggly lines as best you can.”

Eva Marie also said it was her quick rise through the WWE system in 2013 that caused her to want to tell her story. With Eva Marie overcoming her previous addictions, she looks to be a part of WWE programing going forward.
