WWE ran into an issue when it was discovered that Adam Cole’s contract ran up. Then it was reported that Pete Dunne was in a similar situation. Unlike Cole, Dunne was on NXT this week and he is primed to be a top heel for the black and gold brand. Obviously, something happened behind the scenes to warrant this.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Pete Dunne was offered a new deal over SummerSlam weekend. It wasn’t noted how long the contract is for, but it seems that he took them up on the deal.

During Summerslam weekend in Las Vegas, Fightful was informed that WWE had indeed offered Pete Dunne a contract extension recently. The length of the offered extension has not been confirmed and varied based on who we spoke to, but the offer was confirmed by an anonymous WWE rep.

It wasn’t noted that Dunne has re-signed or if he is going to. All indications point toward his maintained focus, one that will remain for the next several weeks as they taped episodes of NXT in advance. We will have to see what happens in this situation, but it seems that Pete Dunne’s story in WWE is not over yet.
