CM Punk made his AEW debut on Rampage The First Dance. Punk’s long-awaited return to professional wrestling proved very successful for AEW. As Ringside News exclusively reported, he signed with AEW and he will wrestle 10 to 12 matches per year.
With AEW riding high on the momentum of Punk’s return, people with AEW are pleased with the results. Tony Khan made an appearance on the Le Batard & Friends podcast. Khan revealed just how successful Punk’s debut was for AEW.
Khan said on the podcast that it was the most successful weekend in AEW history. Khan mentioned AEW set their attendance record in Chicago and did very well on social media.
“I think this was our number one best weekend we’ve ever had,” Khan said. “It was number one in so many metrics. We set our attendance record with the most fans we’ve ever had, at the United Center on Friday for AEW Rampage, for the debut of CM Punk. We broke every social metric.”
Khan also said that the interest in CM Punk is a great for the company and people who work for AEW. Khan also mentioned that Punk had a great time in his debut and that the show was a huge success in every way for AEW.
CM Punk created a huge buzz around the world of wrestling for AEW. With interest in the promotion extremely high, it appears the CEO of AEW is looking to CM Punk for more future success.
