CM Punk made his return to pro wrestling with his appearance on AEW Rampage in Chicago. On the show, Punk announced that his in ring return will happen in a match at AEW All Out against Darby Allin.

With Punk’s last match taking place over seven years ago, many have wondered about Punk’s abilities. While excitement is high to see Punk wrestle again, some have concerned about if Punk can still perform at a high level. When working out for his part on Heels, many wondered if he had been training in the meantime. As Ringside News exclusively reported, he did train using a ring in the back of Pro Wrestling Tees’ brick and mortar store in Chicago.

CM Punk addressed these concerns on Kap & J.Hood on ESPN Chicago. He made it clear that he can still go and wrestle his way. Punk says that he has studied Darby Allin’s matches to prepare to work with Allin at All Out.

“I think it’s a lot of ‘can Punk still go?’ Can Punk still wrestle in the ring? ‘Can he be entertaining? Fortunately for me, I was never a guy that did a whole bunch of crazy flips and stuff like that. So I don’t have to go back and try to do these amazing athletic feats. My goal is to tell a story. And the way I get ready for this is to watch a lot of Darby Allin matches. It’s no different than a sports team watching tape on the team that they’re playing.”

Punk also went on to say he was impressed with what he saw from Allin’s matches. Punks said he “want to get creative” with what he saw from Allin.

CM Punk’s in ring return is now less than two weeks away. As the All Out PPV draws closer, it appears that CM Punk is very confident in his abilities for his return match.
