Becky Lynch wasn’t seen on WWE television for well over a year but that changed as Lynch made her shocking return to WWE at SummerSlam. As Ringside News exclusively reported, The Man’s return was also a last-minute change of plans.
Lynch was immediately put into the Smackdown Women’s Championship match against Bianca Belair and won in just 26 seconds with a Manhandle Slam. Fans were understandably quite upset over Lynch squashing Belair.
Bianca Belair felt defeated after her shocking loss to Becky Lynch but also made it clear she is coming back to reclaim the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
According to PWInsider, the decision to have Becky Lynch squash Bianca Belair for the title was ultimately a decision made by Vince McMahon. It was said that McMahon wanted to make Lynch’s highly anticipated return even more spectacular.
“We are told it was 100% a Vince McMahon call and the title switch to Lynch was specifically to make her return even more spectacular. It should be noted that the quick nature of the match (27 seconds) was seen by a number of fans as taking the wind out of the sails of Bianca Belair, but we are told that even though some in the company expressed that concern, the idea was that the moment was about Lynch per Vince McMahon’s vision of the PPV.”
Becky Lynch is also going to be a heel during her feud with Bianca Belair. We will have to wait and see how the feud between the two will be booked in the coming months.
