Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and former WWE Superstar Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose) made their WWE main roster debuts back in 2012. The trio was known as The Shield. They remain one of the most recognizable tag teams in recent memory. However, Roman Reigns really isn’t interested in a Shield reunion. Jon Moxley also believes a stable such as The Shield will never happen again.
Roman Reigns continues to turn heads with his heel gimmick as The Tribal Chief, running roughshod on Friday Night Smackdown. He is also very dominant as the WWE Universal Champion.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Roman Reigns talked about his former Shield brethren. Reigns gave props to Rollins’ work in recent times but then claimed that Jon Moxley could never be the man in WWE.
“Dean obviously is doing what Dean is doing. You know, I think he is happy over there at AEW. But if he could have been the man here, he would have been the man here. But he couldn’t be the man, because I’m the man here.”
“Seth Rollins is going through the same thing, but he is doing great. And I can say that (sic) as some who is still doing, I’m doing better than him. I’m the Universal Champion. I’m the Head of the Table. It’s all mine. This is my company. But he is still a great talent who is doing some of the best work of his career,”
Roman Reigns is also set to defend his title against John Cena at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view on August 21st. We will have to wait and see if he will be able to successfully retain the title or not. Whether or not Jon Moxley ever became the man in WWE, he seems to be doing a great job filling his role in AEW. Only time will tell if he ever makes a return to Vince McMahon’s company to prove Roman Reigns wrong.
