John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and carried the company on his back throughout the PG era. Since 2017, John Cena became a part-timer in WWE and has appeared sporadically due to his busy schedule in Hollywood. That could change after SummerSlam, but he is still booked for the SmackDown supershow at Madison Square Garden.
John Cena is also well aware of how to conduct matches when he sees fit. Zelina Vega teamed up with Andrade and faced off against John Cena and Becky Lynch on the January 1, 2019 episode of WWE SmackDown.
While speaking in a WWE Q&A ahead of the SummerSlam pay-per-view, Zelina Vega revealed the interesting nickname she has for John Cena. Vega calls him the “puppet master” due to how Cena can control and communicate with his opponents and the WWE Universe.
I have to say that was one of the most mind-blowing experiences ever. I call him the puppet master. He was able to control me, my partner, Becky, the ref, the audience. It was like he was playing an instrument.
It was just so cool to see but also people in the back, you know, he’s always someone that you can approach for advice, someone that you can just kind of pick his brain, because he’s been doing this for so long and just has so much knowledge about how you can up your game, so it’s really important to have him around.”
John Cena also made it clear he plans to stick around after the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view if he wins the WWE Universal Championship from Roman Reigns. We will have to wait and see how his match against Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam will be booked as we approach the pay-per-view and if he will end up winning the match or not.
