WWE is putting NXT through a few big changes. Vince McMahon’s new vision for the company includes recruiting larger and younger wrestlers. This change could also come with a rebranding and possible taping change. Samoa Joe is well aware of those rumors, and he will have a chance to represent the brand once again as NXT Champion after TakeOver 36.

Karrion Kross is the current NXT Champion, but he is now on RAW. This presented an interesting situation as the black and gold brand is seemingly losing Kross to the red team. Samoa Joe and Kross will battle on Sunday.

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Samoa Joe was asked about the changes coming to NXT. He hopes it never returned to the days like it used to be, but the brand is always evolving.

“I hope NXT is never the same as it used to be. I hope NXT is always changing and evolving and experimenting and trying new things. So much has been done in NXT, so many barriers have been crossed and so many new, amazing superstars have been introduced. It’s always been a place for experimentation, it’s always been a place for something new. I hope it continues to be that. I hope it’s never the same old NXT.”
