CM Punk was at the top of his game as active WWE Superstar and singlehandedly made the company interesting again with his infamous pipebomb promo. Ringside News exclusively reported that Punk has signed a contract with AEW and that Punk is reportedly 100% for an AEW Chicago show, and many are expecting to see him on August 20th at the United Center. He also had a gig doing commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships on Saturday night and took full advantage of this recent buzz.
There have been numerous hints and teases when it came to CM Punk making his debut in AEW. The most recent example was during an NFL network programming.
Now it seems CM Punk himself has decided to add fuel to the fire. For those who don’t know, CM Punk is currently working as a commentator on the Cage Fury Fighting Championships. While commentating during a CFFC 99 event on Saturday, CM Punk, alongside John Morgan, had an interesting exchange.
Morgan mentioned CM Punk’s return to the pro wrestling world and CM Punk made a reference to AEW in response.
“CM Punk returning to his wrestling.
Yeah, he’s looking All Elite right now.”
Punk also revealed why he doesn’t watch WWE anymore. The AEW locker room is certainly excited about CM Punk signing with the company. We will have to wait and see if CM Punk truly will debut at the AEW Rampage: First Dance event next week.
