WWE makes a lot of money off merchandising, and they love touting those numbers to investors. It seems that Vince McMahon’s company is on a constant drive to pump out more specialty items and t-shirts for fans with expendable incomes. The company apparently forgot to set up for fans at SmackDown last week and that left some confused.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the company didn’t set up merchandise stands during last week’s SmackDown in Tampa for some reason. This is interesting, because they still announced plugs for their merch tables during the event.

It appeared there were no merch stands, but they plugged between matches to go to a special event merch only website and scan a code on the scorecard and then pick up the merch in the main bowl of the arena after online purchases

It is unclear why WWE neglected to set up merchandise tables at SmackDown last week. That setting can get quite congested and there might have been a concern about so many people standing in such a close space in order to buy WWE apparel. We’ll have to see if the merchandise tables return, but they were apparently absent last week at the Amalie Arena in Tampa.
