Ricky Starks is a very talented pro wrestler and has a bright future ahead of him in AEW. He is currently the FTW Champion and is one of the mainstays of AEW television. Sting agreed to compete for AEW upon signing with the company, and it started with a cinematic match. He impressed with his performance, and Ricky Starks is very happy about how that turned out as well.
Since the beginning of the pandemic last year, pro wrestling has been an increase in cinematic matches from a variety of pro wrestling companies. At AEW Revolution, Sting and Darby Allin beat Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a cinematic Street Fight. The match remains one of the highlights of the year and received universal praise from fans and pro wrestlers alike.
While speaking with talkSPORT, Ricky Starks talked about the cinematic Street Fight match, calling it the best cinematic match ever. Starks then stated that no pro wrestling company can touch his cinematic Street Fight match with Sting.
That whole process was so awesome to see. Sting, while there’s some issues there in the past, I’ve come around to respect Sting. You can hear it first [laughs]. I do respect him. So to not only have the best cinematic match ever in wrestling, but to also be in a ring and wrestle Sting is crazy. That’s just something I never thought I’d say.
I know that we all went into it with the mindset that this is going to be the best cinematic matchup ever and so far no one else has been able to touch it. It still stands at the very top as the best cinematic match, period. No one can tell me different.”
While Ricky Starks’ claim is certainly a big one, it also has merit to it as the match was truly one of the best cinematic matches till date. Sting is set to wrestle next week on Dynamite once again as he teams up with Darby Allin to take on 2.0. That match will certainly be a big treat for fans in Houston and all over the world.
