Former WWE Superstar Paul Wight, who used to be known as the Big Show in WWE, spent over two decades in the company before he decided to take his skills elsewhere. Wight eventually made his way to AEW, much to the surprise of the pro wrestling world.

The backstage environment in WWE and AEW are undoubtedly different. As a few former WWE Superstars have mentioned in the past. Both companies have their own ideals as to how they conduct their work.

While speaking to WrestleZone, Paul Wight explained the difference in processes in AEW and WWE, where he stated that talents in AEW have a lot of freedom while those in WWE are simply cogs in a machine.

“For me, it’s a different, different feeling altogether. WWE has been doing it for a long time, everybody has their roles, everybody has their gears, they are a cog in the machine, it snowballs and makes everything happen. The energy in AEW is completely different. There’s people handling multiple roles. There’s people in positions doing roles that you wouldn’t think they’d normally be doing. But with that comes an incredible amount of freedom,”

Paul Wight spent several years working in WWE and is well aware of just how different it is compared to AEW. It seems Wight is more than happy working in AEW thanks to the creative environment provided there and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
