Paul Wight is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world as he worked in the business for well over two decades. Paul Wight shocked the pro wrestling world when he officially announced that he will be working in AEW a few months ago.
Since his appearance in AEW he has been working as part of the AEW commentary team and is certainly having a great time there. For the past few months, WWE has been releasing several talents from their contracts, which began with the likes of Mickie James and Chelsea Green being released back in April.
The company released even more NXT Superstars in their latest batch of releases, including the likes of Bronson Reed and Bobby Fish. In total, WWE has released 52 Superstars so far this year. Paul Wight believes there is a place for people like Bray Wyatt, Ric Flair, and Braun Strowman in AEW.
While speaking to The Ring Report, Paul Wight talked about the recent batch of releases from WWE NXT. Wight claimed that the momentum is definitely with AEW after WWE’s latest releases.
“Anyone now who has been in this business long enough is smart enough to see where momentum is going and you’ve got to agree that it’s with AEW. It’s got a great groundswell of support from fans who are really into the product.
The storylines are unique. They have a different flavour and excitement about them. I made the transition myself because after four decades, I left as I could see the writing on the wall of where professional wrestling was headed.”
AEW certainly has a lot of buzz thanks to the likely arrival of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. That hype only adds to garnering some of the best ratings in the past month.
While AEW certainly has a lot of room for improvement, they are definitely on the right path and the next couple of months will be a crucial period of time for the company.
