WWE released Canyon Ceman after he was with the talent relations department for years. Rumors has it that Adam Cole’s contract situation was a catalyst to letting him go. It didn’t take the company long to find a replacement.

Trent Wilfinger revealed over Twitter that he is now the company’s new Senior Vice President of ID and Development. That is Canyon Ceman’s old position. He did not mention Ceman in the post, but Wilfinger is very happy to have the gig.

Excited to share that I will be joining the WWE as their new SVP of Talent ID & Development. I look forward to working side by side @jamesrkimball under the leadership of @TripleH to help bring to life a game changing vision and strategy.

Wilfinger received schooling from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, Drexel University, and the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. Prior to coming to WWE, he worked for the Arizona Coyotes in Game Operations from 2004 to 2006, and for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Marketing & Game Operations from 2004 to 2007.

We’ll have to see what is next for Trent Wilfinger, but his position is one that can receive a tremendous spotlight at times. He is also in a job that is sometimes villainized for towing the company line, because it’s always difficult to represent a billion dollar company to its employees.

We have not heard what Canyon Ceman is doing right now, but odds are he received a hefty severance package as part of his release.
