Matt Cardona Pitched Idea To Work With Ex Girlfriend Tenille Dashwood

Matt Cardona is in Impact Wrestling and having a good time working with his fiancé Chelsea Green. He also has a former girlfriend on the roster in Tenille Dashwood, and those two recently met in the ring during a mixed tag team match.

The former Zack Ryder made an appearance on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast. During the podcast, he revealed that it was his idea to work with his ex-girlfriend.

Cardona teamed with his real-life fiancé Chelsea Green in a mixed tag team match against Brian Myers and Tenille Dashwood at Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary PPV. Cardona and Dashwood were previously in a relationship in 2016.

While some fans saw the idea of Cardona working a match against his ex girlfriend as an uncomfortable situation for Cardona and Dashwood, he revealed that the original idea was his own. Also, everyone involved was on board with his idea and that the match was enjoyed by the wrestlers themselves.

“It was fine. It was actually my idea to do this mixed tag, I wasn’t sure if everyone would go for it, and everyone did, and it ended up being really, really fun. We were all super professional about it.”

The pairing of Cardona and Chelsea Green at Slammiversary was kept a secret until the night of the actual show. While many fans expected the surprise reveal, it was still well received to have the real life couple wrestle together in Impact Wrestling.

Cardona has said that while he doesn’t plan to have a career in mixed tag team wrestling, he said that he would love to have his fiancé by his side in his wrestling career.
