WWE has released several Superstars over the past several months. “Budget cuts” is the reason given for all of these cutbacks. Sadly, we have more NXT releases to announce.
According to Fightful, WWE handed down several releases to the NXT brand. Bronson Reed, Bobby Fish, Mercedes Martinez and more are no longer with the company.
Bronson Reed was just working dark matches prior to WWE’s television tapings. It seemed as if the former NXT North American Champion was getting a good look for the main roster. Bobby Fish’s release is also very surprising, because it seemed as if he was being positioned to get his own program in NXT. Mercedes Martinez is also a veteran who was incredibly beneficial to the black and gold brand.
You can check out the entire list below including Leon Ruff, Tyler Rust, Jake Atlas, Kona Reeves, and more. This is indeed a sad day for NXT fans.
Bronson Reed
Bobby Fish
Leon Ruff
Tyler Rust
Jake Atlas
Mercedes Martinez
Asher Hale
Giant Zanjeer
Zechariah Smith
Kona Reeves
Ari Sterling
Desmond Troy
Referee Stephon Smith was also part of the releases. This is shocking news, because several of those wrestlers were featured in big ways in the past few months.
WWE NXT contracts have a 30-day non-compete clause associated with their releases. It is very likely that fans will see them again.
