Update: Tony Khan has denied making a contract offer to Adam Cole.

Original: Adam Cole’s NXT contract is up, but he agreed to an extension. That short contract will only see him with the company through SummerSlam, and TakeOver 36 could very well be his final match in the company.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that there is “no indication that he’s AEW bound” at this time. That being said, there is still a lot of interest from AEW to sign him to a contract. In fact, a deal is already on the table as he talks to WWE.

Those close to the situation have said that he is negotiating a new deal with NXT but that AEW had made an offer as well and he had not agreed to either offer as of midweek

All of this is “as of midweek,” so things can change in rapid fashion when it comes to contract talks. As we last reported, no long term deal has been offered by WWE.

Adam Cole’s deal is an interesting one, and it could have led to the release of Canyon Ceman. For the record, Britt Baker said that she would be happy for Cole no matter which company is picks.

Cole isn’t the only NXT Superstar contract in a bind right now. Pete Dunne’s deal is also said to be in a similar situation, but it’s unknown exactly when his contract is set to expire.
