AEW is Chris Jericho’s home, because he was an original roster member. Bryan Danielson is reportedly on his way to AEW as Bodyslam.net originally reported. We’ll have to see what’s in the pipeline, because the two could meet again.
Former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan is reportedly headed to AEW along with CM Punk. This put a huge spotlight on Tony Khan’s company.
While speaking to Inside the Ropes, Chris Jericho talked about a match he had with Daniel Bryan on NXT in 2010. He revealed that he didn’t want to wrestle Bryan because he was still a rookie. Jericho was World Heavyweight Champion at the time.
“I didn’t want to have that match. I just thought, ‘Why is the WWE Champion having a match against some guy that’s just coming in for NXT?’ I remember it was Undertaker that was like, ‘Go out there and show them why you’re the champion.”
The former AEW Champion defeated Daniel Bryan in six minutes to win the bout. Sadly, they didn’t wrestle too many more times.
“I don’t think I wrestled Daniel many more times, maybe two or three times, but none of them memorable. That one was the one that was memorable and who would have thought it at the time? But here we are, you know, ten years later and people still talk about it because it was such a monumental match and the first meeting between two guys that, you know, are still doing it pretty much at the top of our games ten years later.”
Daniel Bryan and Chris Jericho have wrestled each other three times in singles competition in WWE. With the former on his way to AEW, could we see the two veterans go at it for the first time in an AEW ring? We’ll just have to wait and see.
