AEW announced that they will run the United Center on Friday, August 20th. That reveal was quickly followed by tons of CM Punk chants from the Charlotte crowd. They even zoomed in on fans chanting for the Second City Savior. Those tickets went on sale today, and it was a huge hit.
Wrestle Tix reports that as of this writing, AEW has sold over 11,000 tickets for their United Center show. The account has been updating fans all morning regarding how fast those tickets are flying out of the box office. When they first arrived in the queue, there were already 2,000 fans in front of them.
On one computer I’m still in a queue with 2,000+ ahead of me. On another, I’m capturing counts and all of the 100 level seats you see in this initial screenshot are gone. Top level seats are moving at a fast pace as well…
Additional sections opened, but they were quickly snatched up. It appears that their United Center show will be a success. Now we have to wonder what Vince McMahon really meant with his statement about how AEW isn’t close to the competition that WCW was.
CM Punk is very likely to appear at that show. Bodyslam.net reported that he is 100% for a Chicago event. It was not noted which Chicago event he will be at, but they also didn’t limit it to just one appearance.
Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk has inked a deal. He will also be on AEW programming nearly every week. This is a very exciting time for pro wrestling fans, especially those who have waited six years for CM Punk’s return to the ring.
