Renee Paquette worked with WWE for eight years until she parted ways with the company back in the Summer of last year. She left the company after FOX’s WWE Backstage show was cancelled.

Since then Paquette has kept herself busy with numerous projects, both personal and professional. She experienced a lot of things while working in WWE and is also aware of how the current WWE product is.

While speaking on her Oral Sessions podcast, Renee Paquette compared AEW to WWE with respect to how both companies describe their storylines to fans. Paquette stated that AEW doesn’t treat their fans as stupid, unlike WWE, which leaves fans confused for the most part.

“They [AEW] don’t treat their fans stupid, in terms of not knowing what this is and we’re going to beat you over the head to make sure you understand it,” Paquette mentioned on how AEW and WWE have built two distinctly different and diverse structures. “I understand the reasoning of why they do that obviously, but I think with smart fans, and the way that people have access to looking into information that they might not know and being able to connect the dots themselves, I think that there’s something really cool about that that people like to have that sense of discovery, rather than being talked to like they don’t understand.”

WWE’s approach to storylines has been one of the most criticized aspects of the product for many years and at this point in time, it is not known whether they will be improving things or not.
