CM Punk is set to make his return to pro wrestling. Nothing official has been announced, but fans will be watching AEW programming in careful fashion over the next month or so. The Second City Savior is re-entering the pro wrestling world through AEW, but he also dipped his toe back in the ring as he acted on Starz’ pro wrestling themed show Heels.
Stephen Amell is star of Heels and he is also close to Cody Rhodes. We’ll have to see if Amell will find his way to AEW and work with Cody in the ring once again. Amell also had the opportunity to work in the ring with CM Punk, and he claims that the Best in the World is still on top of his game.
While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Amell said that CM Punk can still go in the ring. He was quite sure about that as well.
“I don’t want to betray stuff that I’ve talked about with Phil. I actually texted him when all this stuff broke like, ‘You coming back?’ He sent me back a photo of a cat shrugging.”
“As a general rule, anything in the world of pro wrestling that is going to piss Vince McMahon off and get his competitive juices flowing, is probably good for business. The one thing I know for sure is that Phil can still go. He’s in great shape. I would love to see those guys in AEW or WWE. Phil vs. Triple H, you name it, it’d be great.”
Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk signed a deal with AEW. It was also 100% confirmed that Punk will be at a show in Chicago, but the big question is which one. AEW has a lot of exciting things in the pipeline, and many fans will have reason to pay close attention to watch them breach into this new chapter in the company’s history.
