Triple H is the brains behind NXT and it is no exaggeration to say the current NXT is his brainchild. He works extensively in order to ensure the best WWE Superstars make it in NXT and everything from their presentation to their names is at the best they can be.
However, it seems Triple H was not a fan of a certain tag team’s name in NXT. Former WWE Superstar Matt Cardona, who was known as Zack Ryder in the company, used to be a team with Mojo Rawley in WWE. They were known as the Hype Bros. The two teamed up together for two years as they broke up on Friday Night SmackDown in 2017.
While speaking to the Straight Shooting podcast, Mojo Rawley stated that the Hype Bros’ tag team name sucked and that they would be getting another name instead.
“Then he [Triple H] goes, and I’ll never forget this, he goes, ‘Yeah, you know, he’s the bro, you’re the hype. We’ll just put you guys together and, you know, you’ll be like… we’ll call you The Hype Bros or something. Not that name – that name sucks – but we’ll come up with something better.’” And it stuck! We never changed it! It was The Hype Bros, and he [Triple H] himself was like, ‘This name sucks, we’ll get you something better.’”
Mojo Rawley landed a role in the new Snake Eyes GI Joe film and it is likely he will be acting in more films as Rawley wants to become the next Rock. As for Matt Cardona, he recently defeated Nick Gage to become the new GCW World Champion at GCW Homecoming.
