Daniel Bryan, Bryan Danielson, is on his way to AEW, and so is CM Punk. hose two big signings came about in the past couple of weeks and the company needed to alter some big plans to make it happen.
Ringside News exclusively reported that CM Punk has signed with AEW. Cassidy Haynes, who reported that AEW signed Daniel Bryan, spoke about those two big additions during the Bodyslam Podcast.
Haynes said that Daniel Bryan’s deal was done with AEW, and then CM Punk started to show interest. All of that caused AEW to reevaluate their plans and move things around to capitalize on the buzz.
“They already had plans for [Bryan Danielson] to debut at Arthur on September 22nd, however that was a couple of weeks ago. Meltzer saying he’s known since May… nahh … they had discussed it internally in May when his contract ran up, but they didn’t start talks until about 2 or 3 weeks ago. So that stuff didn’t start happening until recently.”
“Then the Punk stuff happened after Bryan. So, they had plans in place for Bryan at Arthur Ashe, and then this Punk stuff happened and it’s kinda thrown a wrench into how they want to present everything. Now they’ve got to reformat everything because of that, you know? Because it’s ‘how do you capitalize off this buzz’ and what are they gonna do exactly is what they’re trying to figure out.”
He went on to confirm the timeline of events. This was not the kind of thing was was a long drawn-out process. Both Bryan Danielson and CM Punk came onto AEW’s radar in a very small window of time.
“Daniel Bryan started talking to them 2 or 3 weeks ago, and he was supposed to do Arthur Ashe and as long as of 2 days ago that was the plan, but they can always change that around. They can always change up when he’s gonna debut, but it’s happening. It’s 100% that he’s guaranteed to be there.”
It said that AEW had everything mapped out through All Out, and the last couple of weeks changed all of their plans around with those two big additions to their roster.
This is an exciting time to be a pro wrestling fan. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan will add a lot of energy and interest to AEW’s already passionate fanbase as well.
We will have to see what happens, but Bryan Danielson is currently supposed to appear at the Arthur Ashe Stadium show at Dynamite Grand Slam. It was previously reported that CM Punk is “100%” for one of AEW’s Chicago shows.
