On this week’s episode of NXT, Xia Li challenged Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Championship in the main event of the show.
Xia is part of the Tian Sha faction and made her way to the ring without Boa or Mei Ying as she set out to dethrone Gonzalez. The match was intense from start to finish as both competitors gave it their all in order to come out with the victory.
However, just before the match concluded, Xia Li seemingly got injured after a scary spot that saw Gonzalez hit a corner slingshot senton splash on Li. However, Li wasn’t able to bring her hands up in time and Li couldn’t get up. After which, medical staff surrounded her.
The match was allowed to be finished as Gonzalez retained her title. After the conclusion of the main event, Sean Sapp took to Twitter and provided an update on Xia Li’s condition. He stated that Li was fine when she was seen backstage in NXT.
For those asking about Xia Li, we were told she appeared okay backstage after NXT.
It is certainly a relief that Xia Li is okay and didn’t suffer any injuries as an untimely injury at this point in time would have been devastating for NXT. We will have to see if Li will get another shot at the NXT Women’s Championship in the future.
