WWE needs referees to do their job and not interfere with matches going on in the ring. That also applies to matches where the action is taking place all over the arena.
During a recent Reffin’ Rant, Jimmy Korderas railed on WWE’s officiating during RAW, especially during the Symphony of Destruction match. Near the end, Korderas caught how the referee pulled Jaxson Ryker’s arm over to pin Elias, and that does not fly.
“He picks him up on the top rope, big suplex through a couple of tables, and as Jaxson Ryker, if you look at it, was reaching over dramatically for the cover, the referee pulls his arm down and counts the 1, 2, 3. Are you kidding me?! You can’t do that. I’m sure the referee was getting yelled at in his earpiece, ‘hey make sure he covers him — grab the arm!’ Whatever he was being told, but something was coming from the back and he was being told, because I don’t think he went into business for himself.”
“That being said, as someone who has worn that earpiece and knows that it’s like, sometimes you have to have that discretion to say, ‘let this thing play out.'”
It’s likely that the referee was told to count the pinfall and get the match over with. Not only were they possibly running long, but the Symphony of Destruction match was also seemingly losing those live Dallas fans a bit by the end of the contest.
We’ll have to see if the referees provide any assists in the future, but it was pretty apparent this week that something was going on that fans weren’t privy to.
