After several months of floundering on the main roster in WWE, former WWE Superstar Aleister Black was released by the company back in June of this year, much to the shock of fans and pro wrestlers alike.
Aleister Black has previously detailed how the last two years of his time in WWE were like a slow death and he had a lot of trouble dealing with WWE Creative on numerous aspects. After his AEW debut, he now goes by the name Malakai Black.
During his debut, he laid out both Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson, signalling his intentions. He would continue his feud with Cody Rhodes on this past week’s episode of AEW Fyter Fest Night 1 as well.
While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross talked about Malakai Black’s first feud in AEW, which is against Cody Rhodes. Ross believes that the two will have a hellacious run together.
“Malakai is a big acquisition for us. I’m glad he’s on our team. I’m very surprised WWE let him slip away. We’re lucky we have him. He’s a unique talent. Looks like his first dancing partner is gonna be Cody, and they’ll have a hellacious run I think. Both are young and hungry, and Cody is one of my favorites in and out of the ring. I guess that’s because I was so close to his father. I feel compelled to look out for him a little bit. That’ll be a hell of a run.”
Malakai Black certainly has a lot of momentum behind him right now. We will have to wait and see how his feud with Cody Rhodes will be booked in the coming weeks.
