Since its inception in 2019, AEW has strived to provide a proper alternative product to WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded but there are still many areas of improvement.
For many, AEW was seen as a breath of fresh air and also that old school nostalgia as the company tried to balance both the modern and old school aspects of pro wrestling. However, there are some obvious flaws with the product.
Regardless, AEW is certainly continuing to grow in a variety of ways and the company is coming to New York on September 22nd for the Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium, and tickets have sold quite well so far.
In fact, it seems the event will be making history for the company. According to PWInsider, it is expected that the show will set the record for the highest attended AEW Dynamite in history.
The initial release of tickets for AEW was 17,000 based on the initial configuration and according to WrestleTix, the show has sold over 15,000 tickets so far.
AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam (final update for the day) Wed • Sep 22 • 7:00 PM Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing, NY Available Tickets => 1,999 Estimated Capacity => 17,164 Tickets Distributed => 15,165 (88%) A very good day for AEW.
It was also said that both AEW and the stadium are quite happy with the sales as AEW opened up more tickets than they had initially planned. This is certainly great news for AEW and there is no doubt the Grand Slam event will be a significant event in AEW’s history.
