WWE is getting back on the road and that will include another stop at Madison Square Garden to make some more history on September 10th. They company is really hoping for a big turnout in the world’s most famous arena as well.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer brought up WWE’s return to Madison Square Garden. Ticket sales have been steady, and they’ve sold about 6k already, but they’ve had much better ticket sales from the building in the past.
“They put The Garden on sale, and they’re at around 6,000 tickets, which I don’t know if you can call that good or bad, they had like 3,000 which I think was the comps, but they have high ticket prices.”
It was noted that AEW ticket sales for Arthur Ashe Stadium will also be a big sign for WWE. Those tickets have not gone on sale yet, but WWE beat AEW to the on-sale date. We previously reported that Vince McMahon’s frustration about ticket sales might be the root for so many early NXT call-ups.
This is an interesting time for pro wrestling and WWE is really hoping to sell out MSG. WWE just made that September SmackDown a split branded event for that reason.
What’s your take on WWE going back to MSG? Are they just doing it because AEW announced an event in NYC first? Sound off in the comments!
