WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle is undoubtedly one of the best pro wrestlers to have ever graced the squared circle. He had a tremendous career in WWE, spanning multiple World Title runs and incredible matches.
He has squared off against the best of the best the pro wrestling world has to offer and that includes the likes of Chris Jericho. Angle joined the company in 1998 and had the best rookie year in WWE history, surpassing established stars such as Jericho at that time.
While speaking on The Kurt Angle Show on AdFreeShows.com, Kurt Angle was asked whether Chris Jericho had any professional jealousy towards him during his meteoric rise to the top.
Angle stated that while Jericho never expressed anything vocally, he believed that Jericho was frustrated at Angle getting a huge push despite being new to the company.
“No, no, I felt it. It was, you know, it rang true. Chris never talked about it, but I’m sure he thought about that because there is no doubt. We both started around the same time, and you know he came in from WCW, and I started in WWE. Some of my first programs were with Chris Jericho, and it seemed like I elevated a lot quicker, and I was very, very, very new to the business. Chris had been wrestling for at least a decade. So, I was just surprised that they didn’t elevate Chris as quickly as they elevated me, and you know, for whatever reason it was, maybe because it was he came in from WCW.”
Chris Jericho is now one of the most beloved pro wrestlers of all time and a mainstay of AEW television while Kurt Angle has been enjoying his life in retirement after WrestleMania 35. It is unlikely Angle’s meteoric rise in his rookie year will ever be topped.
