Original: AEW brought their show back on the road this week for Dynamite and they had quite a night at Road Rager. MJF and Chris Jericho’s segment was disrupted by a fan trying to get in on the act, and he was promptly ejected out of the building after taking a punch from Jericho.
Jim Cornette has been a big critic of AEW in the past, and it seems that one of his fans jumped the ring at AEW Dynamite in search of his approval. That spawned a huge conversation in the Internet Wrestling community today.
This fan is a follower of Jim Cornette and Vince Russo. He tweeted out to both of them about the AEW event in Miami. Following his recent tweets, Cornette’s name started to trend on social media.
One fan replied back to @MuufuhkinMark, the fan who jumped the railing at Dynamite, and they said, “Jim Cornette would literally beat people who jumped the guardrail with a tennis racket and has been arrested multiple times for it.”
Voices Of Wrestling, a very popular Twitter account within the community, tweeted out an advisory for both Cornette and Russo to disavow @MuufahkinMark and separate themselves from his actions:
“Cornette & Russo need to disavow that guy and nip this stuff in the bud. He’s already making more threats on his TL. If you run grifts aimed at the world’s dumbest people, this is what happens. Drop the gimmicks and end it before someone gets hurt. Cornette is officially Trump.”
Dave Meltzer also chimed in to confirm that Jim Cornette would never approve of these actions. We’re willing to bet that Cornette will bring this up on his podcast, and he’s not going to be very happy about it.
We can only hope that fans jumping the railing at AEW events doesn’t become a trend. The NBA also saw this trend where fans started abusing players, possibly because they forgot how to act in public during the pandemic. If anything, Tony Khan will probably tighten up security for a few weeks.
