Current Situation With Daniel Bryan’s Possible WWE Return

Daniel Bryan’s WWE contract ran up and he is officially a free agent now. He has not appeared for any other pro wrestling company yet, but he also has yet to make a return to WWE at all. That won’t keep WWE from mentioning his name in their storylines.

Bryan’s name has come up a could of times in the current angle with Edge returning to take on Roman Reigns for the Universal Title. He is still a free agent, but the company is using his name for fodder in that feud.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those mentions of Bryan are not a sign that he’s coming back. His current status is still a secret that he’s keeping to himself right now.

Regarding all the mentions of Daniel Bryan on television of late, we’re told this isn’t an indication he’s coming back. […] They keep mentioning his name because he is part of the story of building Reigns vs. Edge, since they are using him as the reason Edge didn’t already win the title

It was also noted that “nobody really knows what he’s doing past if he’s made a secret deal with any company,” but it is unclear if that has happened. If Bryan is planning on a big reveal then “they are keeping it a secret until doing a dramatic reveal when they want to.”

We’ll have to see what Daniel Bryan ends up doing. WWE provided him with a great career, but they are not the only pro wrestling game in town and Daniel Bryan might want to explore his options a bit more at this point in his career.
