Goldberg is still one of the biggest names in pro wrestling, but his name was even hotter when he stepped foot in WWE for the first time. He had a bit of pull backstage, but he still couldn’t call the shots. That doesn’t mean he didn’t have his friends’ backs.
Rodney Mack spent time with Goldberg and has nothing but good things to say about him. While speaking to Wrestling Inc, Mack revealed that Goldberg did not want to end Rodney Mack’s “White Boy Challenge” on the June 23rd, 2003 episode of RAW. It still happened in under 30 seconds as Mack recalled the experience.
“It was great to work with Goldberg. Bill’s a great guy, I remember I was one of the first guys he met coming through the locker room in WWE. We just hit it off right off the bat, but it’s really easy to do that since Bill’s a great guy. You know, he didn’t really want to do it [end the streak] at the time. But I’m like, ‘I’m not in position to make a decision on that.’”
“Bill stood up for me a lot. I have nothing but great things to say about him. I wish we could have worked a proper angle or program together, because I really think he and I could have drawn some money together.”
Goldberg still has another match with WWE in 2021, but he has not appeared yet. It’s always possible that WWE is saving his next appearance for Survivor Series, because we have not heard that Vince McMahon wants to use Goldberg at SummerSlam. Goldberg still commands an incredible payday so another trip to Saudi Arabia isn’t out of the question for WWE in 2021 either.
